As an Assistant Manager/Early Childhood Educator, you will…

• The Assistant Manager/RECE position includes two reports: 1) assisting the Manager with administrative duties and acting for the Manager in the Manager’s absence, and 2) being an RECE in the room
• Assistant Manager responsibilities:
  • Assist the Manager in maintaining a high-quality childcare centre including: staff scheduling, wait list management, data entry and maintenance of children’s files
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Manager in their absence including: staff management and support, compliance with licensing and other regulatory requirements, program planning and implementation, emergency response coordination and responding to parents, provincial and municipal funders and other internal/external stakeholders

• RECE Responsibilities
  • Provide care for the physical and emotional needs of the group and individual children
  • Provide a safe, developmentally sound, and nurturing environment for young children
  • Develop and encourage positive and secure relationships with children
  • Work as part of a team on managing the day-to-day activities of the room according to the Mothercraft program statement, policies, and procedures, and all legislative and regulatory standards
  • Responsible for overall program planning, including observation and assessment of children; preparation and implementation of a culturally sensitive weekly program plan to promote stimulation in all areas of development
  • Communicate formally and informally with families, students, and other staff and managers
  • Keep the manager informed of activities and/or concerns
  • Perform administrative duties including maintenance of children's records/emergency forms, illness and accident reports, daily attendance, and developmental summaries twice a year
  • Responsible for either opening or closing of the centre (safety check, all duties carried out, etc.)

• Standard First Aid & CPR C Certificate

As a Manager, Centre for Early Development, you will…

• Report to the Associate Director, Centers for Early Development and manage a team of Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) and Early Childhood Assistants (ECAs) in the daily operations of Mothercraft's new Norton Lake Centre for Early Development
• Ensure services are based on Mothercraft's theoretical frameworks
• Ensure adherance to polices and procedures, and compliance with all legislative and regulatory standards in order to maintain a high quality of care for children
• Ensure the children's programs and learning opportunities are based on the Early Years pedagogical framework of How Does Learning Happen and ELECT as set out by the Ministry of Education
• Provide leadership to the development and implementation of enhanced, responsive and integrated family and child programming in conjunction with staff, a Parent Advisory Committee and the Associate Director
• Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit, select, hire, and provide training to new employees
• Provide guidance and mentoring to staff and facilitate staff development through the provision of feedback and annual performance appraisals
• Provide input into budget development and manage revenue and expenditures in line with the approved budget
• Collaborate with the Corporate Services Division to arrange necessary support on facility, IT, and HR matters
